Free listening practice

Hear the phrases. Absorb the language.

Pick a language and topic. Each sentence appears in your language and the target language. Slow and repeat only the foreign line.

Many learners drill word lists and then cannot follow spoken Spanish, French, or Italian. This tool reverses the order: hear and read the sentence first, then meet it in a real article.

Each language has beginner, travel, everyday, food, work, and health lists, plus optional calm loops for sleep-learning searches. No account. The voice comes from your browser.

Calm evening listening

The same beginner session on a loop – for relaxed review. No promise that you will wake up fluent.

How listening practice works

Start a session, see the sentence, hear your language first, then the target. Settings change only target speed, repetitions, and the pause between sentences.

Lists are curated, not model-generated, so politeness and full sentences stay controlled – a bridge to news, not a replacement.

Why the Chrome extension next

Listening trains recognition. Meaning in new context comes from reading. LingoGist translates connected phrases in the original article.

Each language has a learning guide with sources. The player is the start; the reader is daily practice.

Questions about listening practice

Is the tool free?

Yes. It runs on the site with no account. Your browser speaks. The LingoGist Chrome extension is free too.

Which languages can I listen to?

Spanish, English, French, and Italian as targets. The site UI is German or English; the source language follows the UI.

Will this teach me a language in my sleep?

Not as new grammar overnight. Separate pages explain that honestly. Real training is awake listening plus reading later.
